Virtual Thanksgiving

Today is Nigel Lee’s funeral/thanksgiving service.

I am sad not to be there but know that he would not have encouraged me to get there. He was never one to go for eulogies or even statements of mild appreciation!

I decided to do my own memorial. This picture appeared on just about any written article, event publicity or news story about Nigel for most of the first 20 years I knew him! Way after his hair had improved it continued to have a lifespan of its own.

I used to tease him about it but I feel deserves a place in the digital era.

The smile is probably what most people will remember the most.

I bet it is bigger than ever now.

But you know what….death still sucks for those who are left behind.

A song which has become more meaningful to us over the past few months.

Blessed Be Your Name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name

Blessed Be Your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed Be Your name

Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's 'all as it should be'
Blessed be Your name

Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name

Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name

There is a poignant song that captures a little of the joy for those with Christ and the pain for those left behind.

The link gives you a clip of the song.
